Fact Sheet

There are many uses for Artificial intelligence (AI). Like any other technology, it is often value-neutral at first but, if used incorrectly, it can be harmful to humans and the environment. Therefore, the European Union is working on regulations for the development and use of AI that have the potential to become the world standard for ethical AI.

In this context many questions arise: Which constraints for AI are currently being discussed? What are some of the arguments for the proposed constraints? Will this regulation lead to more safety or rather to the EU falling behind in comparison to other countries and association of states?

We summarize the current status of the debate, providing an overview over the drafts and the concepts to come.
